TEA & Trees 4 Schools
Travel Exclusively African has chosen to work exclusively with Trees4Schools in South Africa. Their initiative offers our clients not only an excellent way to offset the carbon emissions from their flights, but in doing so they will be enhancing and educating children’s lives all over South Africa.
Our contrbution
Each tree donated will be planted in schools in disadvantaged areas in South Africa – some of these schools have little more than a small patch of dusty earth for the children to play in – and through the course of the planting, the children will be involved from start to finish and learn how to nurture growing saplings and how those saplings will grow into the trees for the future that are so important to our earth’s eco system.
The Trees4Schools Trust is the Corporate Social Initiative of the South African division of coffee company Miko's Fairtrade and Fairtrade Organic coffee offering Puro.
Working with Ian Loots of Turning Deserts into Forests, the Trees4Schools mission statement includes the following:
• To create a mode to plant trees in as many of our local SA schools as possible.
• To increase the awareness of our youth and future leaders regarding re-greening, reducing our country's carbon footprint and the devastating effects of global warming.
• To utilise the project as an educational tool at the schools involved.
• To create a sense of ownership and pride amongst the students, so that the welfare and upkeep of the trees will be passed on from generation to generation.
• To allow each school that receives trees to then nominate other schools, thereby promoting a sense of fellowship and community.
• To promote sustainability and a continued sense of environmental awareness.
