The area has a sub-tropical climate and whilst this has no bearing on the animals you may see, it does seem to attract certain types such as Cheetah and Rhino. BIG 5 sightings are in abundance here, and going on safari in KZN is a natural extension to visiting the Zulu Battlefields, Umhlanga Rocks beaches or even the Drakensberg Escarpment. It is also renowned for its superb bird watching.
