The Cape Peninsula, Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope

We generally recommend that the Cape Peninsula Tour be undertaken by one of our expert guides. The reason for this is that to the untrained eye, you will miss the subtlties that the Penisula has to offer and of course you get the full history of the Cape to enhance your knowledge of the area.

Taking the tour around the Cape Peninsula you'll see why Cape Town is regarded as one the most beautiful cities in the world (or rather a city with one of the most beautiful locations).

Leave the City Bowl and head south through the leafy suburbs along De Waal Drive. In Lakeside, take Boyes Drive with its breathtaking views of False Bay. Follow the shore through the picturesque harbour towns of Kalk Bay, Simons Town (stopping off to see the penguins at Boulders Beach) all the way to Cape Point, the southwestern tip of Africa (and no, the Indian and Atlantic Oceans do not meet here, they do that at Cape Agulhas, some 200km east of Cape Town).

Spot the baboons along the way - they are not shy and they may be as interested in you as you are in them! It goes without saying, but just for the record, don't get out of your car to feed them! (Fines are imposed on anyone caught feeding them).

To get to the Point or Cape of Good Hope, you will need to enter the Table Mountain Nature Reserve. Here you might well see Cape Mountain Zebra, Ostrich, Eland, Klipspringer or even Gemsbok.

Be sure to get that photo taken at the Cape of Good Hope.

Leaving the Point, return along the Atlantic Seaboard, through Kommetjie and Noordhook, and along the spectacular Chapmans Peak toll road.

The last stretch is through Hout Bay and along the foot of the 12 Apostle peaks and Lions Head whose lower slopes are dotted with the glamourous suburbs of Llandudno, Camps Bay and Clifton, where the rich come to play.
