The location is in the heart of Kwazulu Natal approximately 5 hours drive south east from Johannesburg and about 3.5 hours north west from Durban (easier to travel from here).

General Information
The reserve offers a choice of accommodation in either the Lodge or the Guest House, both owned by the Rattrays and born out of their extensive experience in hospitality, evident in every corner of Fugitives' Drift, is their love of South Africa, its people and its unique history.

Restaurants
There are no restaurants as such but full catering in the Lodge i.e. you are not able to go away to eat and the price of your accommodation includes all meals. Enjoy superb cuisine, a unique fusion of home and modern flavours, in the splendid atmosphere of a veritable museum of Anglo Zulu War memorabilia.
Rooms
The Lodge
  • The Lodge is situated on the site of the original Rattray homestead where David’s parents Peter and Gillian came for their holidays and here the seeds of this unique operation took root in those early years.
The Guest House
  • In its original state The Guest House was the home of Mr Johan Potgieter and his family. "Mr Pot" was immortalised in Gillian Rattray's award winning book "The Springing of the Year". He was one of the great storytellers of this area.
