Wildlife & Nature Trips

Day One to Four
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is set in 1,750 hectares of indigenous bush, with sweeping views of Walker Bay. During whale season (July to November), the cliffs of Walker Bay offer the 'Best land-based whale watching in the world.' Huge Southern Right Whales come here to calve and mate and loll around in the breakers just a few metres off shore. Boat trips also reveal huge sea bird colonies and Cape fur seals. The large private cottages and secluded balconies in the Grootbos Nature Reserve allow you to watch the sun setting over the ocean. The cottages are set amongst ancient milkwood trees and you awaken to the calls of forest birds. Grootbos has won several awards for its ecologically sound tourism and encourages conservation of its precious fauna and beautiful Fynbos - the world's sixth floral kingdom. "The best example of conservation of biodiversity I have ever seen – Grootbos says it with flowers" - David Bellamy (British Conservationist) Set amongst ancient Milkwood trees, our eco-friendly accommodation near Cape Town consists of large, private accommodation suites. This accommodation gives guests a chance to unwind, surrounded by the splendours of nature. Be pampered by Grootbos’ luxury accommodation and the warm hospitality at our Whale Coast safari lodge. From each luxury suite you can admire the sunsets over the ocean or start the day in tune with the forest birds. Occasionally your attention will be captured by the hawks and raptors that hunt for prey in the fields below your private terrace. Four nights in suites on full board basis
